NEW BRUNSWICK — One person died in a fire that destroyed a two-story home early Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported around 12:46 a.m. in the two-story home on Stockton Road with heavy smoke coming from the eaves on the first and second floors, according to city spokeswoman Jennifer Bradshaw. Intense flames could be seen throughout the house, including the basement.
