What a politician finds funny about New Jersey

While some politicians write books when they leave office, some try to write them while they're still in (see Governor Christie). Meanwhile, former councilman Joey Novick has written a play.

“All of stores are true – they all come from things that actually happened when I was a councilman in Flemington. One time, this guy came into the borough hall outraged that we were "asking him about sex that he had with his wife on the government form”. It took a while for him to calm down when it was explained to him that the dog license he was filling out had a checkbox for "sex" —regarding the gender of his dog— not his bedroom relationship with his wife.

Novick served as a Councilman in Flemington Borough from 1995 - 2006, and then again from 2012-2015. He also served as the Hunterdon County Democratic Chair from 1996 - 2000, ran a campaign for Congress in the 7th Congressional District in 2012.

After selling out two shows at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC Joey Novick returns home for two shows at the Jersey Fringe Festival in Hammonton, Friday, August 4th at 7 pm and Saturday, August 5th at 5 pm. Tickets can be obtained through this link.

“The borough council is pure New Jersey – you never have to ask a person in the audience was a resident, ‘Hey, what do you mean by that?’. Residents are upfront in your face and very direct with everything in town.”
