We've been hearing from parents and concerned students at West Windsor-Plainsboro School district about the possibility of the football program shutting down at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North.

Yesterday, we heard from several residents and the superintendent who called in to talk about it on the air. They want to combine the students from both North and South high schools to be able to field a team, otherwise north risks having to abandon their football team.

This would devastate players, students, cheerleaders and supporters who just want to keep the team alive.

Of course, in New Jersey bureaucracy rules and the NJSIAA has voted against combining the teams for fear that they are trying to build a "super team". The district has bent over backwards to disprove any such allegations of unfair advantage, even offering to start the season 0-9, but to no avail.

We're hoping something can be worked out to avoid a lot of broken hearts and disappointment over at WWP North.
