You know things are bad when you've got so many corrupt politicians, Wikipedia has a page rounding them up.

So Jim Gearhart isn't not surprised to get the chance to welcome another into the New Jersey Corrupt Mayors Hall of Fame — Paterson former Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres.

The Associated Press reported earlier this month: "Torres served five terms on Paterson’s city council before he was elected mayor in 2002 over incumbent Martin Barnes. Barnes, a Republican, pleaded guilty and went to prison in 2002 for charges stemming from a kickback scheme."

So it was something of a tradition when Torres himself got into hot water for conspiring to have city employees work overtime at a warehouse leased by his family, for his and his family's benefit .

But why wouldn't a politician dip into the public trough?

"You have these great temptations, and you know from history, you only get a couple of months at a country club prison," Jim says in the latest installment of the Jim Gearhart Show podcast, available here as well on iTunes and Google Play. I
