Truck spills watermelon load onto Route 1
A spilled load of watermelons closed down Route 1 in North Brunswick on Thursday night.
Video shows the tractor trailer on its side and its roof torn open in the right lane, just past the Route 130 overpass, with boxes of watermelon strewn all over the lanes, most of the melons split open.
New Jersey Fast Traffic says the road was closed for a time as the fruit was picked up off the road.
A picture on MyCentralJersey.com shows a construction claw picking up the watermelon and dropping it into a dumpster.
North Brunswick Police Lt. Lt. Michael Brandt tells NJ.com the cause of the incident is investigation but says there were no injuries. He adds that the fruit is will have to be thrown out.
