Trenton Man Arrested in Corrections Officer’s Death
Another Trenton man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of an off-duty New Jersey corrections officer at a banquet hall.
The Times reported that 26-year-old Hykeem Tucker was charged with murder and weapons offenses in the Nov. 11 death of Carl Batie, a Mercer County corrections officer. Authorities previously arrested 26-year-old Maurice Skillman in Batie's death.
Tucker and Skillman are each being held on $1 million cash or bond.
The newspaper reports that the 27-year-old Batie, of Willingboro, was attending a party celebrating the re-election of President Barack Obama. He was on a balcony when he was struck by shots fired from a parking lot below.
Police have said they believe Batie was an innocent bystander.
