State Police are advising motorists leaving the city to expect delays on the Atlantic City Expressway and to consider an alternate route.

Traffic was backed up for almost two miles in the westbound lanes Saturday evening due to a train derailment on Friday on the overpass near Exit 2. Emergency bridge repairs from the accident have led to closures of two of the westbound lanes.

State Police are adivsing motorists heading towards the  Garden State Parkway to take U.S. 40 west and enter the expressway at Exit 2. Police tell the Press of Atlantic City to expect delays in both directions of the expressway
