NEPTUNE — Authorities are investigating an incident in Neptune where two men were reportedly shot at by a passing sports utility vehicle.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said the incident happened just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night in the area of Myrtle and Stratford avenues where the two men were walking.

The men fled after the occupants of the vehicle rolled down their windows and starting shooting. One of the two men suffered what the prosecutor called a "non-life-threatening" shot to the right side of his chest. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

No arrests have been made but anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Adam Mendes of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at 1-800-533-7443 or Det. The Monmouth County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5000 for information leading to the arrest of criminals and fugitives.
