Burlington County prosecutors say 26-year-old Samuel James was taken into custody around 4:15 p.m. Monday in Barrington. His bail was set at $1 million cash and he's due to be arraigned Tuesday.

James faces murder and weapons charges in the death of 24-year-old Byron Turner. He was found shot in the head outside his Burlington City home on Saturday night and died a short time later at a hospital.

Authorities say a 5-year-old girl who was in the area where the shooting occurred was injured while retreating from the gunfire but wasn't shot. She was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

It wasn't known Monday if James has retained an attorney.
