Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa announced Thursday that the Hurricane Sandy Relief Foundation and operators John Sandberg and Christina Terraccino also must put more than $600,000 already received into an escrow account, and post notices on Facebook and Twitter accounts that the charity is not a tax-exempt organization.

New Jersey sued Sandberg and Terraccino last week for allegedly using donated funds for personal use and failing to properly register as a charity.

The Sparta residents are accused of transferring more than $13,000 in donations into personal accounts and paying $8,000 to a credit card company for personal expenses.

It wasn't known if Sandberg and Terraccino had retained an attorney.
