HOWELL — A State Police officer was rear-ended while responding to an crash on Route 195 on Monday morning.
State Police spokesman Lawrence Peele told New Jersey 101.5 the officer was struck by a Ford Windstar minivan just after 8 a.m. at the westbound entrance ramp to Exit 31 for Route 549 in Howell. The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
A car stopped abruptly in front of the minivan, causing the minivan driver to lose control and veer off to the right shoulder, where the trooper's vehicle was parked, Peele said. The minivan hit the trooper's vehicle in the side, Peele said.
The officer was the only one in his vehicle, according to Peele. He did not disclose the identities of anyone involved in the crash.
