LIVINGSTON — Four students were on board a school bus that hit a utility pole on Thursday morning, sending live wires on top of the bus.

Livingston Police said neither the students on board the bus nor the driver were injured in the crash on Westmont Drive around 7:30 a.m. A PSE&G utility crew was on site to lift the wires off the bus after power was cut.

Video taken from the ground, broadcast by News 12 New Jersey, showed "Livingston Public Schools" written on the side, but class was not in session on Thursday. Police did not know what school's students were on board the bus.

Police said they do not know what caused the bus to hit the pole, but their preliminary investigation determined no other vehicles were involved.

It's the second crash involving a school bus in the past 24 hours in New Jersey. Students were taken off a school bus whose front end landed on a guardrail on Route 280 westbound in Newark on Wednesday afternoon.
