Hunterdon County commuters are dealing with some long delays on Route 78 this morning caused by snow and an overturned tractor trailer.

New Jersey State Police said witnesses told them the driver of a flat bed tractor trailer swerved into the shoulder of the highway on the eastbound side near exit #24 for Route 523 in Tewksbury around 5:30 a.m.  The driver tried to make a correction and went back to the left and overturned into the median and blocked the left and center lanes according to the witnesses.

The truck was carrying a bulldozer that fell off the truck and needed to be taken off the road along with the truck according to police, who said no other vehicle was involved with the incident.

The driver of the truck, who was not identified by police, hit his head on impact and was taken to the trauma unit at Morristown Medical Center. It was snowing lightly at the time of the incident but the road was just wet according to police.

New Jersey Fast Traffic's Jill Myra reported a 10 mile delay stretching back to Union Township which caused drivers to try Route 22 as an alternative route.
