A 7-year-old is among the 2,500 cyclists riding 65 miles from Philadelphia to Atlantic City to raise money for children in need and families of fallen first responders today.

Skylar Goose Hunter, who completed a 58-mile ride in May, is the youngest rider to participate in the Irish Pub Tour de Shore, according to a 6ABC report.

Riders must reach Atlantic City by 1:30 p.m. and Skylar told 6ABC he knew how fast he had to ride to accomplish that feat.

"Going 11 miles per hour that will give you about eight minutes to stop...it'll work out," Skylar told 6ABC.

The event is sponsored by the Irish Pub and Inn in Atlantic City. It's charity foundation is dedicated to helping children in need and families of fallen police officers and firefighters in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey region, according to its website.

The charity aims to raise $1 million thorugh the race. According to the race website, $971,833 has been raised so far.

Irish Pub owners Cathy Burke and Mark O'Connor founded the The Irish Pub Tour de Shore in 1988 to give back to the community and bridge the gap between the Irish Pubs in Philadelphia and Atlantic City.

Race proceeds go to multiple local children's charities. Money is also given directly to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.
