Propeller hits woman in head at Newark Airport

NEWARK — An airline employee was hit in the head by an airplane propeller at Newark Liberty International Airport early Saturday morning.

The employee, a woman in her 50s who lives in the City of Orange, was taken to University Hospital with a serious head injury around 2:20 a.m., according to a statement from Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo. He did not disclose the circumstances of the incident or where it took place except that it was not on a runway.

A photo of the incident posted by RLS Metro Breaking News shows police and first responders on the tarmac outside an airport terminal.

Pentangelo said the incident did not disrupt airport operations.
