Princeton cops and mayor reunite couple with lost ring

PRINCETON — We know who Debbie and Jeremy are but we don't know why a ring belonging to one of them was found lying on a township street.

Police on Tuesday posted a picture of the silver ring on their Facebook page in hopes of finding its owner. The silver band silver band was inscribed with "Debbie and Jeremy June 1999." The ring had been found on Nassau Street and Pine Street and turned over to police.

Mayor Liz Lempert saw the post and realized that she knew a couple with those names.

"She contacted them and they are the owner," Police Sgt. Chris Tash said. "We contacted the owner and he's going to make arrangements to pick up."

Tash said he doesn't know how the ring was lost or it they knew it was missing. He said it's the first time the department has used Facebook to solve a lost-and-found case.
