Spadea: NJ needs to be doing more to protect our corrections officers

Another corrections officer hurt in the line of duty. And another brave member of the law enforcement community denied full compensation during recovery.

Two things, first of all, there is no question that it's time New Jersey recognize corrections officers at the same level as other law enforcement officers and grant them full pay during the delay before workman's comp kicks in if they are injured in the line of duty.

Secondly, an inmate that attacks or threatens an officer should be placed in solitary confinement until they are deemed not to be a threat to the safety of the officers or anyone else. Period.
