NJ man tried to throw crib at woman, with toddler still inside, cops say

A 24-year-old West New York man was charged with aggravated assault after, police say, he hit a woman in the head with a beer can and then attempted to throw a crib at her, with a baby still sleeping inside, according to published reports.

According to NJ Advance Media, a criminal complaint against the man states that the victim and her 12-year-old son were on a bed when the man — whose identity was withheld — struck her with the beer can. In addition, the man allegedly attempted to throw a crib at her, but the woman's two sons stopped him, the report cites the criminal complaint saying.

A 2-year-old child was still in the crib at the time, police told NJ Advance Media.

The man was lodged in Hudson County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

West New York police did not immediately respond to requests from New Jersey 101.5 for additional information or comment on the incident.
