TRENTON — A convicted felon who was once charged, but never convicted, of raping a teenager years ago has now been charged with five separate violent sexual assaults in two counties this year.

Andre Wesley, 30, was arrested earlier this month after a standoff with police in Willingboro.

Wesley had been a suspect in a the Nov. 27 rape of a woman in an abandoned parking lot in Camden.

On Wednesday, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office announced new charges against Wesley, who has been accused of raping and seriously wounding four women in Trenton in incidents dating back to March.

Prosecutors say he raped a woman on Elmer Street on March 31 and cut her neck and leg. The victim survived but required emergency surgery.

On Sept. 22, Wesley allegedly punched, choked and raped a woman in a home on Chestnut Street. Prosecutors say he locked up the women in a bedroom when he was done.

He was accused of raping two women on Nov. 17 — one victim he stabbed in the neck with scissors, while the other he choked and punched her in the face until her bones were broken, prosecutors said.

In the Trenton incidents, Wesley has been charged with attempted murder, multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault, weapons offenses, aggravated assault and criminal restraint.

Bail for the Mercer County charges was set at $1 million. He remains locked up in Camden on the charges from that county.

New Jersey 101.5 reported earlier this month that Wesley already has served time in prison.

Wesley was sentenced to five years in prison in 2007 for endangering the welfare of a child. He had initially been charged in that case with raping a teenager, New Jersey court records show.

In 2011 he was sentenced to five years with two years of parole ineligibility for leading police on a high-speed chase. He briefly served time for a 2005 weapons charge stemming from an assault, and a 2004 theft charge.

During his Dec. 2 standoff with police, Wesley reportedly confronted cops with a large knife and tried to goad cops into shooting him, officials said. Cops instead subdued him with a Taser.
