Motorcyclist killed in Parkway early morning crash

EAST ORANGE —  A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway on Sunday morning.

Naiheem Powell, 23, of Hillside was killed after rear ending a Nissan on the southbound side in an enclosed area of the Parkway near Exit 145 in East Orange around 2:40 a.m, according to State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn.

Flynn said Powell was pronounced dead at the scene after his Yamaha motorcycle hit the sedan while both were moving.

Two lanes of the Parkway were closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened by 6 a.m.
