ENGLEWOOD — A motorcyclist ejected off his motorcycle closed down the New Jersey Turnpike early Friday morning.

State Police spokesman Lawrence Peele said the male driver hit a guard rail on the right side of the highway just south of the George Washington Bridge. The driver was then struck in the center lane by a vehicle that did not stop.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person riding the Aprilia motorcycle. Peele did not disclose the driver's name.

The crash closed the road for five hours, creating delays of more than 60 minutes stretching across the bridge into New York City.
