Coast Guard officials say the pair were found around 4:30 a.m. Monday, on a small marshy island near the north end of Long Beach Island, when rescuers heard one of them whistling. They had been reported missing late Sunday.

Officials would not disclose information on the men, but said both were wearing life jackets.

They had departed from a Long Beach Township marina around 5:30 p.m. Sunday for a kite surfing trip. But their personal watercraft floated away in the tide as they began setting up their kites, so they swam to the marshy island and waited for help to arrive.
