Authorities say a man who had been evicted from a Philadelphia homeless shelter returned and opened fire, killing one employee and injuring another.

Police said the gunfire occurred at about 6 a.m. Sunday inside the Station House Transitional Shelter in north Philadelphia.

Officials say the man was evicted Friday night after breaking the rules by being intoxicated. Authorities said he returned Sunday morning to get his belongings, but apparently got into an argument with an employee, pulled out a gun and opened fire.

One employee was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was shot in the hip and taken to a hospital.

Authorities are searching for the gunman.
