Male body found near creek; no foul play suspected
MANTUA, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say the body of a 58-year-old man has been found along the bank of a southern New Jersey creek.
Bernie Weisenfeld, a spokesman for the Gloucester County prosecutor's office, says no foul play is suspected in the death of Theodore Smith III of Deptford.
Weisenfeld says Smith's body was found Sunday along the Mantua Creek near the Route 45 overpass in Mantua. He was found by a Deptford Township police officer who was searching for him after Smith's wife reported him missing earlier in the day.
Smith was last seen leaving the Telford Inn in Mantua on Saturday night. He told an inn employee he was walking home. He lived about a half-mile from where he was found.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
