Jersey City Police Shoot Man Who Barricaded Himself in Home

Jersey City officials say police shot and wounded a man who had barricaded himself inside a city home.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, was taken from the home shortly after the shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said he was being treated at a hospital, but further information on his injuries -- including whether they were life-threatening -- were not immediately disclosed.

It was not clear what sparked the standoff, which ended when officers entered the home and subdued the man. No one else apparently was inside the residence while the standoff was ongoing.
