In one of those stories that seems to exist only to provide talk radio with fodder, a Vermont restaurant took down an advertising sign promoting their bacon after a Muslim woman complained that it was offensive. The Sneakers Bistro in Woonsocki, Vermont the sign promoting Sneakers bacon after a woman wrote and said the sign was offensive to those who don’t eat pork, and that she was personally offended.

Believe it or not, the business owners took down the sign voluntarily and say they regret any harm the sign caused. Harm? What is possibly harmful about a sign advertising a legal product enjoyed by millions of people? Here in New Jersey we have plenty of Jewish people who don’t eat pork, but I don’t see them picketing the local Shop-Rite or Acme to get them to stop advertising it. This has to be the silliest protest I’ve ever heard of.
