If you’re an iPhone user, Apple might owe you $95

Think about how many times you’ve bought a new phone because of the promise of some amazing new feature.

Then imagine finding out that feature wasn’t really ready yet. Annoying, right?

If you bought one of Apple’s newest iPhones during a specific time period, you could eventually be entitled to a payment from a proposed class-action settlement worth as much as $95 per phone.

What happened

The lawsuit claims Apple promoted advanced Siri artificial intelligence features that weren’t actually available when many customers purchased their devices.

“For months, the trillion-dollar tech giant touted these AI capabilities as the cornerstone of the new iPhone’s appeal, promising consumers a product that would redefine smartphone use in the new AI economy,” the lawsuit states.

NJ.com reports Apple denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to a proposed $250 million settlement to resolve the claims.

The settlement applies to people in the U.S. who purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.  It’s estimated that roughly 37 million devices could qualify.

A warning

Before you start spending that 95 bucks in your head, there’s one important detail.

The actual payment depends on how many people file claims. Eligible customers are expected to receive at least $25 per device, but if fewer people submit claims, the amount could climb as high as $95.

You can’t file just yet.

If the settlement receives final court approval, eligible customers are expected to receive a notice by email or regular mail explaining how to submit a claim. A settlement website will also go live once the claims process officially begins.

If you bought one of these iPhones because you were excited about Apple’s AI promises, keep an eye on your inbox. You may not get rich, but getting a little money back for a feature that wasn’t there isn’t the worst surprise you’ll have this year.
