A low pressure area is moving up the coast, according to meteorologist Alan Kasper. He expects 2-3 inches of rain by the time it ends on Thursday afternoon. Thanks to our recent dry weather, Kasper said there is not expected to be river or stream flooding but there could be some minor street flooding in poor drainage areas.

A Coastal Flood Advisory has been posted for the entire shore for the possibility of moderate tidal flooding as seas are at 2-6 feet.

The most rain is expected to fall in southern areas and along the shore where winds out of the east, according to a National Weather Service brief, could gust over 35 mph.

The heaviest of the rain will be over by Thursday night and should allow the Yankees to play their final game of the season, and Derek Jeter's final home game at Yankee Stadium.

High pressure will move in for the weekend bringing sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s.
