Police are continuing the search for an 18-year-old Clifton man in connection with a double stabbing that took place earlier this month.

According to a press release, authorities believe Darin Baron is evading capture and should be considered armed and dangerous. His mother, Diane Barone, 47, was also arrested for allegedly misleading officers and hindering the apprehension of her son.

Authorities say that on Jan. 3 at approximately 7:15 a.m., a dispute took place on the 900 block of Bloomfield Avenue in Clifton during which two men from the same city, ages 18 and 20, were stabbed in the arms. While one of the victims sustained only a minor injury, the second suffered a more serious injury that required surgery.

"Both were admitted to the hospital and have since been released," Clifton Police Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said in a press release.

Clifton Police and the department's Juvenile Division investigated the stabbing and named Barone as a suspect in the double stabbing. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of weapons possession.

"Attempts to locate this individual thus far have been unsuccessful. This has only been compounded by his mother's failure to cooperate with the investigation and intentional acts of misleading investigators," Bracken said in the press release.

The teen's mother has been charged with hindering apprehension and unsworn falsification.

Authorities believe the teen is in hiding, and are continuing to search for him.

"At this time, it appears as though Barone is currently evading capture, as his whereabouts are unknown. He should considered armed and dangerous," the press release states.

Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect's location to contact the Clifton Police Department at 973-470-5911.
