Despite the scandal and looming aftermath, a new report says the Republican Governor's Association has brought in $60 million under Christie's watch, including a record-breaking $26.6 million in 2014's second quarter.

The group now has $70 million in its coffers heading into the mid-term elections, which significantly outpaces 2010, the last time that there were 36 gubernatorial races.

Another bonus of Christie's role in the RGA is the chance to court Republican donors for his own potential presidential run.

Christie is continuing his whirlwind travel with planned stops in Tennessee, Iowa and New Hampshire.
