UPDATE: Despite crashes, Turnpike among U.S.'s safest roads
Traffic was a mess on the New Jersey Turnpike North just south of Exit 9 Wednesday night, after two tractor-trailers collided, causing a series of fiery explosions.
From what we saw on Twitter, you were shocked and amazed — and just hopeful everyone was OK (State Police told us both drivers got out).
But perhaps the most amazing thing we saw: In the video by Anthony Wilson (above), we see his wife Jacqui Wilson and his brother-in-law Simon Byrne as they rush to the aid of one of the drivers of the tractor trailers. As the driver exited the vehicle, they noticed that his leg was on fire.
Bill Spadea weighed in on Thursday morning, hailing both Wilson and Byrne as heroes for their actions last night.
