Flipped-over camper shuts down Route 78 lanes heading into rush hour
PHILLIPSBURG — A fatal crash involving an overturned camper will likely have an impact on the Monday afternoon commute on Route 78.
Both directions were closed near the Pennsylvania border to allow for a medical helicopter to land.
New Jersey State Police said a Ford pickup pulling a camper flipped over, ejecting a female passenger, who died at the scene. The male driver was taken via the medical helicopter to St. Luke's in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
One lane was opened up on the eastbound side, where the camper overturned, around 3:30 p.m. A rubbernecking delay developed on the westbound side.
