Fisherman lost at sea for over a year sued for eating his colleague
A man who survived over 400 days at sea is being sued by the family of the fisherman who accompanied him, claiming their loved one was eaten. The survivor, Jose Alvarenga, says he didn’t eat Ezequiel Cordoba; instead, he says he died after eating a bird and Alvarenga threw him overboard. Alvarenga wrote a poorly selling book about his experience and he says Cordoba’s family is just trying to get some of that money.
Alvarenga washed up in the Marshall Islands after 438 days at sea, surviving by drinking turtle blood and eating fish and birds. He set off from Mexico.
