We thought we would ask New Jersey residents to tell us their stories about the first Garden State celebrity they met, and we got a ton of stories.

The first New Jersey celebrity I ever met was one of the biggest the state ever produced. The meeting didn't go great, and it was all my fault.

I had the opportunity to meet Jon Bon Jovi at a press conference regarding the opening of the Toms River location of JBJ Soul Kitchen. All I had to do was keep my cool, and everything would have been fine, but of course, I didn't.

 What Not To Say To Jon Bon Jovi

There was nothing I said wrong to him. I simply looked at him and wanted to show him how much I appreciate all the things he and his wife Dorothea do for the community, but the words that came out of my mouth:

You do good work.

I'm pretty sure the last thing Jon Bon Jovi needed from me was approval for his philanthropy. In hindsight, a simple 'nice to meet you' would have been much less cringy.
