BERGEN COUNTY


Dance mistress Denise Piccino and the Tricorne Dancers will give three 45-minute public performances in the Steuben House at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 pm. Ridley & Anne Enslow will provide musical accompaniment on fiddle and hammered dulcimer. Throughout the afternoon, Rodger Yaden will portray General George Washington. Hot cider and crullers will be served in the restored 18th-century tavern in the Campbell-Christie House, where our gift shop is also located. Visitors may also see open-hearth cooking demonstrated in the Out-Kitchen, featuring meal items that General Washington might have eaten during his stay at New Bridge in 1780 and recipes from Martha's cookbook. Re-enactors from the 3rd New Jersey Regiment will demonstrate military life. Admission: $10 Adult, $7 Children, BCHS Members are free. Free parking is available or take the train on the Pascack Valley line to "New Bridge Landing" train stop. Walk one block north to New Bridge Landing. HNBL is only 7 miles from the GWB.

CAPE MAY COUNTY


Social hour 6 – 7 pm (Cash Bar). Seating starts at approximately 6:15 pm. 3 Course wine paired dinner begins at 7 pm. George Washington's Birthday Celebration at the Johnson Ferry House from 1 - 4 pm. The Mercer County Chapter of Project Linus is hosting a Make a Blanket Day Event from 2 - 5 pm at Sylvan Learning Center in Hamilton. This is open to the public and people can either bring completed new handmade blankets to donate or bring materials to work on the blankets at the event. There will be door prizes and light refreshments. We also accept donations of fleece, yarn, quilting materials, or monetary donations. The blankets are delivered to children 0 -18 years old who are in need. Some of the organizations we have been able to support are the Robbinsville Police Department, the Bordertown Fire Department, Catholic Charities, several hospitals, PEI Kids, Womanspace, HomeFront, RISE, The Bag Project, etc. In the last quarter of 2016 alone Project Linus Mercer County, NJ delivered 650 blankets to children in need. Visit the Museum Saturday or Sunday for story time in the Discovery Den. This month we're reading "A Splash of Red: The life and art of Horace Pippin." This award winning picture book tells the story of local artist Horace Pippin. From the time he was a child Horace loved to draw but he didn't become well known until much later in life. Today museums in Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC and many more have collected his work. You can see one of his pieces right here in this Museum! Story time is held the third weekend of every month in the Discovery Den and is intended for children ages 3 to 8.

Based on the popular children's book Pinkalicious, the stage musical was written by the original authors Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann with music and lyrics by John Gregor. Pinkalicious and can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe-a dream come true for this pink-loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament. The show is directed by Teresa Pond. Show tickets include free pink cupcakes for all children!

Storytelling is the native language of all human beings. But what would the world have become without stories? THE BOX OF STORIES presents a world that might have been. When the trickster gods Coyote, Loki, and Anansi steal the art of storytelling from mankind, sealing away stories into a magical box, it is a young girl without a name that rises to become a hero. Upon finding the box, she uses the stories inside to reintroduce mankind to civilization. Spanning the realms of Native American, Norse, African, Greek, Indian, Vietnamese, Celtic, and Middle Eastern mythology, THE BOX OF STORIES demonstrates the power of the spoken word and the ability of mankind to grow, learn, and survive. The Centennial of the young nation's first great hero inspired great celebration among early 19th century Americans.They gathered to offer toasts to George Washington and other important figures of the day. They also held balls, complete with cake and dancing. On Sunday, the Dey Mansion will celebrate Washington's Birthday weekend in the exact same spirit! Visitors can take part in a salute to George Washington, eat cake, and learn more about the country's first president. Special appearances will be made by New Jersey's local militia. The day will also be filled with 18th century dancing, music, demonstrations, and crafters.

Jeff juggles bubbles, sculpts and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles and more. Mixing comedy, music and interactive bubble-magic, he engages and delights audiences of all ages. A hit at performing arts centers, festivals…anywhere there's air! This production is presented as part of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders' Sensory Friendly Theatre (SFT) series – live performances specially designed and adapted for children with autism and other sensitivities.
