Fatal crash closes Route 95 in Mercer County
HOPEWELL — A fatal crash closed Route 95 on Friday morning.
The overturned car closed the highway around 5:45 a.m. in the unlit section of the southbound lanes between exit 5 for Federal Hill Road and Route 31, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez. The male driver was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Goez said the driver was alone in the car which was the only vehicle involved. He did not disclose the driver's identity or a cause for the overturn.
The right shoulder was reopened to traffic after 7 a.m. and the delay eventually went back to Route 1. All lanes were reopened after 8:30 a.m.
Traffic was also heavier on Route 206 as commuters tried to find a way around the closure.
