Fire destroys NJ’s oldest Farmers Market
Two buildings at the Farmers Market, Columbus, NJ were gutted as a result of a four-alarm fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon, 6ABC is reporting.
The market, considered a local landmark, is closed for business when the and there are no reports of injuries. The fire reportedly started around 2 p.m. It took firefighters about two hours to bring the blaze under control, according to 6ABC.
According to its website, the 95-year-old market suffered serious fires in 1968 and 1972, which destroyed several buildings. The website calls Columbus Farmers Market Complex "the Delaware Valley's oldest and largest Flea Market."
