ROSELLE PARK — Thanks to a camera hidden inside a resident's doorbell, authorities were able to identify a man seen taking a package off the man's doorstep.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon, when authorities were called to the residence on Walnut Street. The resident told responding officers that the package was taken between 12 and 3 p.m. and that he had footage on his Ring-brand doorbell camera.

Video footage — which you can see below — showed a man wearing a reflective safety vest with "Select Express" on the back. The man can be seen getting into a white van and driving north.

Det. Edward Nortrup and Det. Sgt. Dominick Frino investigated the incident and were able to locate the man, identified as 23-year-old Samuel E. German, of Bayonne, in Elizabeth. The package in question, and several others, were found with German, police said. Authorities said they are attempting to reunite them with their rightful owners.

"Anyone who was informed of a package delivery during this time but never received it is urged to call the Roselle Park Police Department for follow up investigation," a statement from the department said.

German was charged with theft and released on a summons for a future court date.
