I'm as capitalistic as they come. You should promote the hell out of anything you want and try to sell everything (legal) you want to in 'Murica.

That's what Cinco De Mayo is here in the states. A chance to sell bad versions of Mexican Food and "special" Mexican drinks that I'm sure real Mexicans don't drink.

South of the border, it's a time to remember the brave soldiers who fought off a French Army three times their size in the Battle of Puebla. It's marked by military parades and is a source of local pride in remembrance of those brave soldiers.

Mexico owed money to France and the French wanted their money back, so a battle ensued and the French lost....shocking.

It's not their independence day. That's on September 16th, but I guess that doesn't sound as lyrical and sexy in Spanish as Cinco de Mayo.
