TRENTON (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and some commuters exchanged tweets on Twitter for more than six hours about delays on New Jersey Transit trains.

The Record reports Christie was sharing photos from followers that promote the Jersey shore on Friday when others tweeted that Christie was oblivious to rail delays. Drift22 wrote, "You have no clue what's going on in Penn Station right now, do you?" And MilindShah tweeted, "Delays due to one tunnel are far too frequent."

Christie told the riders to "hang in there" and explained the delays were caused by Amtrak repairs.

Commuters soon criticized Christie for canceling a rail tunnel project during his first year in office. The governor said he scrapped it for fear of cost overruns
