"It is kind of sick, the world we live in.People talk about his weight, and we wonder why kids bully kids," Valastro told the Huffington Post. "I don't care if the governor was fat or skinny, purple or white -- if he does a good job, he does a good job."

Valestro is serving as chairman of a Small Business for Christie coalition and called him a "straighth shooter" who approves of how Christie deals with small business in New Jersey.  However, he would not get specific except to say that he does not agree with Christie on every issue.

Democrat Barbara Buono, while criticizing Christie's role in the "Stronger Than The Storm" campaign, cracked “I don’t know about you, but seeing Chris Christie frolicking on the beach is not going to drive me to go to the shore.”

Christie took that as a comment about his weight and told a press conference, “I’ll put up with it now, it won’t change the way I feel about myself and about lots of other people who I represent in this state who faced a similar challenge I have in trying to control their  weight and be in better shape,” said the Governor.

Buono spokesman David Turner shot back that, "It’s time for the governor to toughen up and face the facts: his bluster and self-promotion have left business owners and residents across the state with one of the worst economies in the nation."
