Cat thrown 10 stories down chute to trash compactor — and lives
ATLANTIC CITY — A couple will likely face cruelty charges after allegedly throwing a cat 10 stories down a chute thatleads to a trash compactor
Karen Reinecke of the Atlantic County SPCA told NBC 10 Philadelphia the organizatoin has surveillance video footage of a woman carrying a green trash bag to the chute inside the Baltic Plaza apartments with the cat's leg sticking out tossing it out.
The video showed the woman and a man returning to the chute with a cat carrier and a litter box. The station reported that because the compactor was not working, the 14-pound tabby cat survived the fall and was found Monday by the property manager.
“It’s one of the lowest lows that can happen to an animal,” Reinecke told the station.
A spokesman for Atlantic City Police said the SPCA is handling the case.
The SPCA has not yet returned a message by New Jersey 101.5 seeking comment.
