Jeffrey Osborne rose to prominence as the lead singer of L.T.D., a funk R&B group that had a #4 hit in 1977 with “(Every Time I Turn Around) Back In Love Again”; And by the way, LTD stands for Love Togetherness Devotion.

Osborne left the group in the early 80s to focus on a solo career. His biggest hit was a duet with Dionne Warwick, “Love Power” that peaked at #12 in 1987. Another big hit was “You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song) which wound up at #13 in 1986.

But the first song I ever heard by Jeffrey Osborne was the one I requested, “Stay With Me Tonight”. It was released in late 1983 and peaked at #30, but these days, it gets no love from radio. Osborne sand on USA For Africa’s mega-global hit “We Are The World”; he also wrote the lyrics to Whitney Houston’s “All At Once” and sang the opening theme of Kirstie Alley’s sitcom, Veronica’s Closet (in the first season). Big Joe did not play my song.
