I don’t know a great deal about Freddie Jackson, other than the fact he had two Top 20 hits in the 1980s.

His first hit, “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)”, not only made it to #18 on the Hot 100, it spent six weeks at #1 on the R&B charts. His follow up release, “You Are My Lady” is the one I requested of Big Joe, and it reached as high as #12, while also topping the R&B charts. You would think that such huge hits would still be heard on the radio, but as far as I can tell, they’re not.

I’m quite sure “You Are My Lady” wasn’t played on our station, because Big Joe ignored me. Jackson continues to record though, his most recent single that charted, “I Don’t Wanna Go” was #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #73 on the pop chart.
