Responsibilities:

  • Prospect for qualified local and regional businesses, conduct thorough Customer Needs Analysis (C N A), present and close appropriate marketing solution programs. These programs may include any of Townsquare Media’s many assets for clients: Broadcast and Online radio, digital products such as display, streaming, loyalty programs, e-commerce, audience extension and digital marketing services.
  • Leverage our live event platform to sell sponsorship and sales programs to new and existing clients.

Job Description and Requirements:

Townsquare Media Trenton in Trenton, New Jersey is looking to hire a Social Content Producer to create compelling, share-worthy news and entertainment material for www.nj1015.com, the digital arm of New Jersey’s largest news/talk radio station, New Jersey 101.5 FM.

The Social Content Producer will have a passion for and understanding of how to create timely, engaging, multi-platform material for a site all about New Jersey. He or she will be able to jump into a breaking news story one moment and pivot to a creative, insightful, clever feature the next. Strong experience with both traditional newswriting and non-traditional story forms (think listicles, think integration of  and outreach via social media, think graphics, think multimedia) is essential. The Social Content Producer must understand what makes material worth talking about, worth engaging, and worth sharing.

The Social Content Producer should have a flexible writing style, able to convey an engaged, modern voice. One piece under your byline might fit in well in a local high-quality newspaper. Another on Gawker or Buzzfeed. If you’re not confident you could write material that fits both, this isn’t the job for you.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in online journalism, though recent college graduates with strong content-creation and news experience will be considered. Prior experience working with other talent — including radio or television personalities — is a plus.

The job requires the ability to focus under fast-paced pressure, the capacity for managing multiple tasks at once, and the ability to respond to breaking news in real-time. Great communication skills and attention to detail are a requirement.

Experience producing professional-quality photos, videos, graphics and interactive material is a big plus — as is experience working with analytics tools or managing social media platforms for a brand or project. Experience working with WordPress, HTML, Photoshop and video-editing software are helpful.

  • Produce multiple breaking news stories daily, from both original reporting and aggregated sources — quickly and under deadline.
  • Generate clever, insightful material in non-traditional story forms (think Buzzfeed), with a strong, relatable voice.
  • Work with on-air reporters to enhance their material for digital platforms, bringing their stories additional depth and giving audience members more resources to explore the topics at hand.
  • Work with on-air personalities / talk show hosts to bring new, creative approaches to their material, reflecting their voices and engaging their audiences online. Help translate their best material to the Web, and to conceive of and create digital-first (or digital/air crossover) content that will engage New Jersey residents.
  • Assist in the production of multimedia, including video features, photo galleries, and interactive material.
  • Utilize and enforce best practices for Search Engine Optimization and Social Media to drive audience.
  • Consult with the rest of the digital team to develop strategies to increase overall site audience and engagement.
