Bananarama was one of the top girl groups of the 80s, made up of Sarah Dallin, Keren Woodward, and Siobhan Fahey. When you combine their dance and pop chart hits, they have the most entries on the charts of any all-female group.

Their first big American hit was “Cruel Summer”, which hit # 9 in 1984.  In 1986, their remake of “Venus” (originally a #1 hit for Shocking Blue in 1970) went to #1, as well.  “I Heard A Rumour” was their final Top 10 hit, peaking at #4 in 1987.  The song I requested was the follow up to that hit, but it wasn’t nearly as popular, barely breaking the top 50 at #47.  Fahey left the group at this point, later winding up in Shakespear’s Sister.  Their last top 50 hit was “Love In The First Degree”, which topped out at # 48.  Fun fact:  Woodward’s boyfriend was Andrew Ridgely (the other half of Wham!) and Fahey married Dave Stewart of Eurythmics.

Guess what?  Big Joe didn’t play it.
