Hermine. It was poised to bring destruction to many parts of New Jersey, especially the shore. Some prepared for the worst, evacuated their homes, and battened down the hatches. Others were jaded enough to ignore most of the warnings.

Most of us were in the middle: kind of making the usual plans for the Labor Day weekend, but also hoping Hermine would blow by and leave us relatively unscathed so we could enjoy the last licks of summer. Frustrating. Especially when some weather guys are saying, "relax ... It's gonna be mostly a 'wind event,'" and others are chicken little-ing the crap out of us, convincing us to run for the hills.

But it's a tough job, and I sympathize. So I have a suggestion for weather guys that should make everyone happy: Be like a real man and don't commit to anything!
