After an extended Thanksgiving vacation, I walked back into the newsroom this morning, and apparently the news cycle did not stop for me.

I hope all of our listeners and readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  This was a morning, where although it was a tad difficult getting back into my wake-up routine, I was very much looking forward to coming back to work.

That statement was not meant to impress the bosses...I really did miss it here after nearly a week off.  There is a certain energy and adrenaline that comes along with the morning news program that you miss when you are away from it.

With all that being said, I was definitely hoping to ease back in this morning as I got my legs back under me.  That was not an option this morning, even coming in 45 minutes as I did.

Scanning the news wires, there were the reports of the arrest of Arthur Gordan, the man suspected of killing his two-year old daughter.

Additionally, another overnight of arrests were taking place at Occupy camps across the country, namely in Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

Add in some new twists in the Syracuse scandal case, and it was a full plate to kick off Wednesday morning.

While this was not my wish, it did help shake off the rust at a more rapid rate.  As the morning continued, news kept popping in ranging from good news, such as the stock market opening up very high to the bizarre like flying squirrels getting stuck in a New Jersey hospital and new legislation being introduced to keep a registry of tigers, yes tigers, in the Garden State.

And of course, there are some new Herman Cain allegations.

The post-holidays can sometimes be a slow time for news, but that is certainly not the case this week in New Jersey and even across the United States.

The lesson learned here is news never sleeps.  I look forward to tomorrow's cycle.
