Drug testing will be a new reality for some middle school students in Lacey Township when they return to school in September.

According to NJ Advance Media, the Lacey Township Board of Education passed a policy on Monday that would establish a random drug-testing program for seventh and eighth grade students at Lacey Township Middle School.

The program is voluntary, and will only be given as an option to those students that participate in after-school activities or sports, according to NJ Advance Media.
