Even better than with that other guy. I don't think I ever Oh, [laughter] I was trying to think of who you were talking about. Um that other guy would have the thing is and and I God bless him. He was, you know, he's still my close friend. He was the best guy, but and he's not dead. So, um, but he would stop to talk to anybody, right? And like there'd be like like scary homeless people or like really smelly weird people with no teeth and he would stop to talk to them. And the thing about, you know, you and me just sitting there on the boardwalk chilling. It was more like we were hanging out. Yes. And every now and then somebody would come by and and and by the way um do you recall the name of the woman who brought us the pastries from um Harold's? Oh shoot. And I I I feel horrible that I can't remember her name. But she brought these pastries by told me there's only one left. We we ate them over the week. Jewish pastries. Hamashian and Rugala. We took them out on a picnic. We went to on a picnic on Saturday. This place called Chantakar in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Gorgeous summer day. We're out there our friends Mitch and Ann. That's so cute. And we ate up all those pastries on the picnic. It was great. Anyway, Friday was wonderful. So, normally, you know, we do do a music hour on Mondays. One of those we're going to make this feel less like a Monday than most Mondays do. Yes. Um, but we got all for clemp. Everything is like all over the place because Kyle got stuck in Germany. Yeah. He was uh going to fly back from Poland and missed his connecting flight. So, therefore, he had to spend the night in Poland last And the funny thing is, not Poland, Germany. All he was doing in Poland was that light bulb project. I was worried when he said he wasn't coming back that he actually got a full-time permanent position, electrical worker position there. I of all the difficulty they had with light bulbs. [laughter] But, [snorts] you know, he's on his way back. Apparently, he helped him out. He was like the consultant from America. He brought the bottled water back. Well, that's from that's how they paid him. They paid him in Poland. [laughter] Okay. Yeah, you know that's what I'm mean. By the way, we know that Poland Springs doesn't mean everybody's so smart. You know, people think they're smarter than you are. Anyway, so they keep talking about this announcement and it's funny. I was on Instagram this weekend. People I said there's like a big announcement we're going to make, right? Yes. People said everything from I'm going to Turkey to open a medical clinic, um plastic surgery clinic, because you know there's a plastic surgery clinic in Turkey that I sponsor. Yes. Um and that I endorsed. Yes. Istanbul. Some people said, "Oh, you know, Casey Bartholomew is coming back." I saw that. You saw that? Some thought Carton maybe was coming back. Yeah. And we're all like, and some people even said Dennis was coming back, but just, you know, roll your eyes back in your head. [laughter] Who's going to be that stupid? Right. So, I was like, I think we have to kind You kind of have to set the stage for the announcement. Yeah. Which we're not going to do right this week. We're still like 2 minutes away from the announcement. I know. But I just want to say uh a couple things. First of all, I want to play this little musical hint. Can I do that? You have a musical hint. You want to play it? Okay. Sure. Go ahead. It's not part of the program that we sketched out today. Is this like a name that tune thing you want to do or put it this way? Okay. This is one of my favorite was one of my favorite shows from back in the 70s. So, I'm going to let this commercial run. Well, yeah. Don't do what I did the other day. I went to play Sopranos clip and the fbomb went out. Can you do you recognize this? [music] That's the TV show Dallas from the early '8s. They had the JR guy. He was the one the I Dream of Genie guy that was on Dallas. That show Dallas. [music] Larry Hagman is coming here to host the show with me. But he's dead. Oh, okay. I guess it's not that late. He was a hard drinking man. Um, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. No. Well, we're a minute away. One minute away. Is now going to be simal cast in Dallas, Texas with our station down there in Lufkin. Oh, okay. Yeah. Town Square has stations all over Texas. We do, right? Is that the announcement? They didn't tell me about that. No. Are we getting paid extra to be heard in Texas? We have all struck oil and we're all out of here. That was Dallas was the um show where they were all oil barons, you know. Um that was one of my favorite shows. It was produced by Aaron Spelling. Okay. Um some people thought me might change format to a country format. So that's why Yeah. So So this is a hint. Yeah. Okay. Um and also some people said maybe somebody was shot. Remember who shot Jr.? I remember that was a big deal. That was pop culture [music] everywhere. Kyle was actually shot over the weekend in Frankfurt. No, he wasn't. [laughter] He might have been cut by a light bulb, but he's fine. I'm [laughter] having so much fun with the Dallas references. So, Judy, it's exactly 10:15 right now, so this is the time where we have to make the announcement. It's time to get serious. Judy, you're dating Charlene Tilton like you wish you were back in the 70s. Everybody's hanging on to your every word right now and they want to know what the announcement is, Judy. And I'm ready to make it. Well, I'll just say one thing. This is um I just want to say one thing. Okay. Yeah. Ordinarily, I would not play the Dallas theme on our show, right? Because it's definitely an older demographic. Yeah. But today, I just feel like it fits. Okay. Now, so I guess you're if this is a clue, then I guess you have to think about some of the story lines that occurred on Dallas. Okay. Well, well, well, first you have to give your speech that Sam wrote for you. Well, I won't read it word for word, but I have great respect for station management because I used to be station management and and and I'm going to go back into station management. EJ got the job at Trader Joe's. Yes, I did. No, I'm no station, not store. I'm not qualified to work at Trader Joe's. Uh so uh I have accepted a position to be the uh operations manager and programming I'll say guru because I've been doing this a long time of town square New Jersey. So I will be leaving the Judy and EJ show. The Judy and EJ show will cease to exist uh in July. I'm going to leave the show and I'm going to go back into management and not only help you guys out whoever whatever you're going to do next, but al also help out other other parts of the station. Maybe we and I'll be on the air on weekends. I'll be on uh uh Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon. And I'll be the primary talk show host fill in. So, if you think about it, this is like kind of your dream job in radio cuz it has all of it. And it's a huge step up for you. I mean, look, I love working with you, but let's face it, it's a better job. Well, I'm going to be sort of like a programming architect for not just New Jersey 101.5, but also uh other stations uh in the company. And I'll still be on the radio. I'll be filling in when you guys aren't here. Uh I'll be on regularly every weekend, Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. So, I'll still be a huge part of the station. I just won't be working with you every day. So, it's a little bit bittersweet because we're losing EJ. Uh we lost Kyle to the unfortunate uh he'll be backing in [laughter] Frankfurt. He's fine. He's fine. Um and so obviously we need somebody to fill your big size 11 shoes, the big Johnson shoes. But unfortunately, the person who's going to be filling in for you has like probably like a size eight foot. Yeah. Um Okay. [laughter] I was Are you saying this person might be a little smaller than me? Yeah. I believe me, I was not a fan of the Maybe in height, but in in terms of pure legendary talent, right, prowess, much taller than me. Okay. Also much taller when he stands on his money, by the way. Um, but the truth of the matter is people have not stopped asking and it's been the thing that really haunted me throughout the year is um, people wanted to know is he dead or did he just retire? Um, and apparently neither because he's very much alive and also coming back to work with me. Who's that? Well, the very annoying saw off Guido. [laughter] God, this was annoying and painful. It was pretty painful, wasn't it? So, I was I did not want this to happen. Um, they had to offer me [music] buckets of money to allow it. Uh, cuz as you know, he left and like he's like a bad penny and he comes back. So Denny is Dennis Mallaloy [music] back with me and uh we're going to be doing a new show called interestingly [music] the Dennis and Judy show 2.0. Uh yeah. So it's uh they called about a month ago and it was with my granddaughters at the mall. They were riding those little furry animals. Do you ever see that? Yes, of course. So I'm I'm No, don't go over there. Now go over there. And I'm watching the granddaughters and the Sam calls. Oh, s hi. He says, uh, do you want to come back? No. No. It was about the time, by the way, that I took that mysterious leave of absence that nobody [clears throat] knew what it was about. You were gone for two and a half weeks and it was about this. Can you tell that when we got to a break for traffic, but can you tell the whole story when you come back? Because I'm so sick of hearing is that is coming. And by the way, every single person said we love EJ so much. you saw um but somebody has to bring Dennis back. EJ and I go way back. We will tell that story too. But so um the Dallas theme song, the reason we played that, we will let you know right after the traffic. 10:19 here's New Jersey Fast Traffic. Good morning Judy [music] and E. 10:25 Judy and EJ show. But not much longer. Dennis is coming back everybody. I'm going into management [music] and Dennis and Judy back on the radio. I we didn't did we say the day that that starts? July [music] 13th. July 13th. Dennis and Judy, everybody. We need Tyrone to do that. So, um, yeah, I'm very excited. The Big Secret is now out. Dennis Malloy is back. Everybody can stop bothering me. Yes, I know you love EJ, but nobody is Dennis, and we know that. Okay, so now this is where the Dallas theme song comes in. We're talking about it over the weekend. Dennis and I spent some time together and my son says, "Ma, do you remember the ep the season of Dallas?" And you guys, younger people are not going to remember this, but in this show, one of the main characters [music] wanted to leave for whatever reason, right? And he leaves and then he had a change of heart after a year. Well, he was killed was Bob. They killed him by viewing. So, he was already dead. So, he decided to come back to show. Well, there was no way to bring him back cuz unlike Dennis, he was actually dead on the show. Okay. So, they really really disgustingly cuz everybody was angry had the wife wake up the first day of the next season and see him in the shower and say, "I had a bad dream. I I thought you were dead." which basically relegated the entire previous season to like the garbage can that we all invested in. So basically I thought or my son really said my you should play the theme song to Dallas and then say Dennis oh my god I had this weird dream that our old program director was on the air with me. You left you were tired and then we went to this like Ben Salem comedy club and we had this whole retirement party for you and everybody cried. Even you cried in the dream. And then in the dream, um, they call back our old program director, which makes absolutely no sense, right? He comes back, we do the show for a year, some snot-nosed punk is like now on the show with us, and I don't know how he got involved in it, and then before you know it, it's like you're just gone. It's like you're gone for a year. Thank God that was your dream. It was actually probably a nightmare, right? [laughter] Especially the EJ bar. But and it was the vivid the dream was very vivid. We did like remotes together. It was insane. Yeah. Thank God. Phw. Thank god it was a dream. Um but no it's you're just back and almost to the day. By the way, July 15th [snorts] was your uh retirement party, right? I I didn't leave till August 1st, was it? I know. I started August 1st. Yeah. July 31st was your And I'm very excited to be back. Yeah. I can tell you're so excited. [laughter] Well, and the funny thing is during the break, Judy comes over. Be excited. You know, excited. Shut up. He's so not excited. I'm very excited. You were starting to tell the story. Yeah. Sam called us, our boss, and said, "Do you want to come back?" And I said, "No." And he said, "Listen, I [laughter] I really flat out said no. I was enjoying time with my granddaughters." and he said, "Let's going to, you know, change the schedule for you a little bit and modify it and um put some enticements in there that made it much easier. You'll work from home. I'll work from home." Okay. And um so I said, "All right, let me think about it." And talked about with my family and my daughter said, "You know, Dad, you really be good for you because it keeps your mind sharp. I'm afraid you're not going to be, you know, sharp." I said, "I'm talked to Tony on the phone every day. That keeps me sharp." Yeah. That Oh, good. Yeah. talking to an old sad sack. That's gonna be stimulating [laughter] to your brain. Isn't that a He's a He's a very competitive spirited man. The best is he made a phone call to Dennis the other day and he goes, "Hey, I hate to bring you down." And I'm like, "No, he doesn't. He loves to bring you down." Yeah. When I I was stuck in Myrtle Beach when Spirit went out of business. I flow flew down Friday morning. Friday afternoon the announcement comes out. Spirit says, "We're calling it quits." So he called, my friend, calls me and says, "Hey, I hate the rain in your parade, but uh spirits out of business. I don't know how you getting home." How did you get home? Rented a car the next morning, drove home 10 hours. This is like not not like Kyle being stuck in Germany. Exactly. [laughter] You came in a car from Germany. No, he said he was going to call an Uber. I said grab an Uber. But you said that, right? All right. Um so break. Believe it or not, we're going to break. Uh we have Dennis Mallaloy with us. Don't ask me how this happened, but we're going to be back. We're together. I'm not that excited about it. He seems over the moon. So, we'll get So, what do you want me to do? Cry. I love you guys and I'm so h I mean, this is like literally you have built yourself up a fan base. I get this 100%. So, my job is going to be as a programmer, right? And and I program this station for a lot of years, many very very very successful years. Um, and I take pride in what we built here. And the station's still riding that wave today from what we built here. And um EJ, I'm so sad to see you leave. But I'm happy to be, you know, involved with, you know, the architecture of the radio station, just so you know. But that really the prevailing uh message is this is so sad, but we are so happy. And I have to say one of my best no sadness. One of the best lines is who cares? EJ couldn't even buy his own house. [laughter] Judy for some reason assumed that my I inherited my home. I was very offended by that comment. He uh I I don't know why I thought he inherited his house. I didn't. He never got over it. He He goes, "You know me. You know for 30 years." And I'm like, "I'm sorry. I forgot one thing about you. I don't know." But you know, you know that my brother inherited I didn't inherit. [laughter] And this is why it I paid the house off of all the things I've done in my life. I'm most proud of other than my kids being great people is paying off the house. Yeah. And I have to say I said it and I don't think I'm He's never getting I wouldn't let you get over forget it either. Um and then somebody wrote this. Dang, I thought Ray Rossi was back. Darn it to all darn nations. [laughter] You know what's funny though? Everybody guessed it was somebody that used to work here that would come back between Craig and Ray and Casey because that's all we do is recycle people here. Let's go to D on the road. And I I once said that Dennis and Judy are a radio match made in heaven. And as wonderful as it has been listening to EJ and [snorts] you know Judy, you make everybody who's on with you feel welcome obviously, but but Dennis, um there's just something about you coming back. It just feels so good. [laughter] That's so sweet. I really am. Thank you. And everybody congratulating EJ and looking forward to the new Dennis and Judy show. I don't know how they'll people over 65 shouldn't pay him. Yeah, I agree. Well, they had a couple programs here in Jersey and that this witch who runs the state now is going to pull the plug. Now they want to cut the stay in half. Was that the right? Shut up. I just gave Dennis a lecture. I'm sorry. About Dennis to warm up. No, but I He needs to warm up. Warm it up a little bit. No, I know. But we we we won't have any anger on our show. There's absolutely no anger. Um no anger except except [laughter] no sadness. No anger. Um, very excited. As long as Dennis is from our appetite, as long as Dennis does not ask me about family members when I call in. Oh, [laughter] yeah. Do you not remember, Denn? Yeah. People would call in. A guy would call and go, "Yeah, my wife and I, we we used to go to Charlotte a lot, [laughter] you know, cuz I had a a brother down there lived in Charlotte and it's nice. You ever been to that, you know, NASCAR Hall of Fame?" Yeah, I was there. Uh, so did your you and your wife still go there? Uh, she passed away last year [laughter] and every time I would ask about a spouse. I've heard this. Not just a spouse, grandmother, uncle, anybody. He died last. Sometimes the people while they're on the phone with him die [laughter] also. Um, very Yeah. Uh, let me see. So nice to hear Dennis back, but definitely will miss EJ who was so upbeat and nice. [laughter] Uh, we met at the deli. At the deli, right? When? About what, six months ago? Four months ago. Yeah, maybe a little less than that, maybe. And Judy, he met my wife and I wasn't full of it. He loved her. Yeah. Beautiful, beautiful woman. So, Dr. Farcus Mcloven. He came You came over and gave me a handwritten note. He was just about to give uh EJ a seat on the board. Now you ruined it. No. What did you get? Hand me a card or was it a handwritten note? No, I printed out that you were a member of the board Emirates. And now we called an emergency meeting at 10:15. You're back, baby. [laughter] So, I was hosting a comedy show in Freehold, one of Steve Trevalis's uh productions. You're out all the time with him. you working a lot. I know. Um, Thursday I was doing another thing with him. Okay. So, uh, yeah, Dr. Mcloven came up and great guy. It was a fun night. It was a It was some Yeah, it was a great night. It was a great night. And EJ, listen, man. Yeah, you stepped into huge shoes and did a great job and and so you should be proud of that, Dennis. I couldn't be more happy that you're back, man. It's awesome. And um, I look forward to Hey, EJ. Yeah. You know how you took the job and didn't screw it up for the most part. Yes. [laughter] Yeah. Be be good to Trevalise. He's a good dude, man. Uh listen, Trev and I go back a long time, too. Like Dennis, who's going to tell the story that we go back to like 1970 something and Trev and I go back to the early 80s. And if it weren't for Trev in the early ' 80s when I was making $190 a week working as a disc jockey on WPST in 1981, he would book me to DJ all these parties all over Mammoth County, Sweet 16s by Mrs. I think it helped me get by at a time when the radio wasn't paying me a whole lot.
